Hamilton for Children of Ukraine
Direct help to children primarily via volunteers acting on the ground in Ukraine.

This fundraiser is led by the registered charity and supported by the Mayor of Hamilton and Hamilton City Council. The purpose is to provide urgent essential support for the children of Ukraine affected by the invasion of their country in 2022 – in particular children in the city of Chernihiv.
We will chip your donation in a programme to renovate damaged (pre)schools Chernihiv.
Chernihiv schools and kindergartens are massively destroyed by Russian shelling. For example, 27 of 34 schools were destroyed, five of them were directly hit with half-ton bombs (see photos at https://www.flickr.com/photos/195560251@N05/sets/72177720298821118/). While some of educational institutions will be hard to restore, others require replacement of windows blown out by the blast wave only.

A (pre)school our cause will take care of is being chosen. Currently, we consider destroyed windows replacement in a Chernihiv kindergarten #69 “Brook” ( https://dity.in.ua/sites/default/files/2019-04/%D0%94%D0%9D%D0%97%20%E2%84%96%2069_0.jpg ).
We will endeavour to provide an update (including documents, images, and videos) to our donors before the trust distributes the funds.

Warmth from Afar: Thermal Pads for Kindy's Shelter Floors, 17 Jan 2024 18 January 2024
Children are excited receiving thermal pads to make their Kindy's bomb shelter floor warmer. Sergiy, volunteer on-the-ground, writes for us:
"Hello everyone!!! Good news for you, today Kindergarten 69 received the long-awaited rugs) The children went down to the bomb shelter twice today and were tired. But when I brought them the rugs, they were very happy and started to put together puzzles and create cozy play areas) The children really liked the help. Everyone was very grateful!!!"
Thanks to you, generous donors of this initial fundraising, 60 thermal pads provided, with one-third of the funding covered by Hamilton City Council Koha.
In Chernihiv, Ukraine, Kindergarten #69 "Brook" needs your support to equip a basement bomb shelter, ensuring the safety of 115 attending children during frequent in the region air alarms (1,117 so far, mostly in the afternoons when children are at the Kindy). Your donation will provide essential supplies, including:
5 flashlights for shelter
2 air recirculators with bactericidal lamps
2 food thermoses (20L each)
11 plastic containers for food
