Harry & Emelia are running for a reason - Their dad, Malcolm a NETS patient, advocate and survivor who continues to inspire them every day.
Hello! Harry and Emelia here!
We are running for a reason and aiming to fundraise $2000 to help Neuroendocrine Cancer NZ. A cause that many of you will know is deeply close to our hearts.
We have set up “Marathons for Malcolm” with Harry running the Auckland Marathon on the 3rd of November and Emelia running the Queenstown Marathon on the 16th of November in honour of our Dad, Malcolm, a NETS patient, advocate and survivor who continues to inspire us every day.
We chose NECNZ because they are NZ's national charity focused on supporting neuroendocrine cancer patients and their whānau. They provide education and support to help Kiwis with neuroendocrine cancer to live their best life and provide knowledge and awareness of the disease amongst the medical community.
It only takes a minute and any money you can give (no matter how large or small) will go a long way to helping our target and helping families who really need your help.
Thank you, we really appreciate your support!
Harry and Emelia.
Neuroendocrine Cancer NZ (formerly Unicorn Foundation NZ) is a registered charity provides support and information to patients, families and medical professionals involved in the treatment for Neuroendocrine Tumours (NET Cancer).
Donations will help NECNZ continue our work in advocacy, research, education and patient support.
Marathons for Malcolm 6 November 2024
Hello all,
As many of you will know by now our beloved Dad, Malcolm, sadly passed peacefully surrounded by his family on the 1st of November after a 13 year battle with Neuroendocrine cancer.
Dad was so excited for the Marathons for Malcolm, I remember him telling us that he was so moved that we would want to support NECNZ and in his typical humble fashion was reluctant to put himself and his story at the centre of the fundraising effort. A friend shared a story with me just after he passed that he had been fussing on the computer to finalise the shirts for the run the day he was admitted to hospital.
We are completely overwhelmed and humbled by the response we have had to Marathons for Malcolm. We are so moved by the generosity of this wonderful community of family, friends, colleagues and patients of Dad’s.
The race itself was absolutely awesome, filled with so much emotion and love and support from friends and family 🥹 Unbelievably stoked to get around in 3 hours and 26 minutes 🏃
Dadda this one was for you, I felt you on my shoulder the whole way. I know you will always be on my shoulder every step of the way. I’ll keep running for you always ❤️
Emelia Legget is up next in Queenstown on the 16th of November and Carrie Hobson (Mum) and George Legget (brother) are now running the half to! So please continue to share and donate 🙌
