RABBIT RESCUE
Raising funds to rescue, vaccinate, feed and rehome a large number of pet rabbits, to save them from euthanasia.

We received a plea asking us to take in 26 rabbits. None are desexed, and they're all together, so ALL the females will be pregnant. The number could soon become well over 100 rabbits if nothing is done.
When there's just no room at the rescues, a commonly accepted procedure is to take the rabbits and have them all euthanised to prevent a population explosion and more suffering… but that is just not something we can bring ourselves to do, in spite of the logic.
SO WE'RE LAUNCHING A PLAN TO SAVE THEM ALL, DESEX THEM, VACCINATE THEM, MICROCHIP THEM, FOSTER AND REHOME THEM. Whew!! Auckland Cavy Care is helping us with this massive mission.
We need your donations. We've received an SPCA grant to cover the desexing & microchipping, which is amazing!!! But we'll need to raise the rest: vaccinations of $80 per rabbit; food & hay for however long in they're in our care (which could be months until the babies are old enough for desexing), transport, etc. Can you help us to save these beautiful bunnies?
About us
We provide a refuge for abandoned and abused animals, and either provide a permanent home or rehome. We raise orphaned native birds & rehabilitate injured native birds: We rescue battery hens, nurse them back to health and find lifelong caring homes.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! 4 March 2025
We learned that 2 of the undesexed rabbits had been given to a neighbour. We thought it important to have those 2 desexed as well. Raylene & Hartley popped over to visit, and discovered FIVE adult rabbits (one very ill), FOUR baby rabbits (3 weeks old), and SEVEN guinea pigs, including one very pregnant female. NONE desexed. They asked if we could please take them. Sad sigh. Sooo, this rescue project just got even bigger. Auckland Cavy Care brought the sick rabbit home and will go to vet today; they will go back to pick up the 7 guinea pigs on Sunday. We have added the extra 9 rabbits to the desex and hopefully rehome list. 5 rabbits are going in for desexing today. It’s all on, folks! So your donations are literally saving these lives. Thank you.
