Help Lauren vie for a medal in the plumbing and heating category at the WorldSkills International Competition in Kazan, Russia in 2019.
Auckland
From a young age, Lauren has always been outgoing and adventurous. Lauren says she loved to build, demolish and create things – she loves learning how things work.
Lauren has worked in a couple of jobs prior to my apprenticeship, my most vivid one was working on a sheep farm - waking up at 4am and coming home at 8pm, and is thankful for that as it taught me discipline.
Lauren has played lots of sport throughout the years. From softball, to rugby, to athletics - with her most fond memory being that she made the Junior White Sox (U19 NZ Team) for softball.
Born and bred from Southland Lauren has always valued being from a small town and is an amazing young kiwi lady to boot.
Lauren is so thankful for the opportunities WorldSkills and Plumbing have given her, and thinks representing New Zealand will showcase to all the young girls of New Zealand that anything guys can do, girls can do (maybe even better)
WorldSkills New Zealand is an independent, non-profit Charitable Trust founded in 1986, dedicated to encouraging young people to excel in vocational skills. This is achieved through exposure to competitions at a Regional, National and International level. The purpose of the organisation is to:
• Encourage, recognise and reward skill excellence.
• Raise the standards of skills training in New Zealand.
• Raise the self-confidence and self-esteem of the young participants.
• Have New Zealand recognised as one of the highest skilled nations in the world.
• Promote Skills Training as a first choice career to school leavers.
Funds will be used to support Lauren to cover training costs, attend training camps, and represent New Zealand in international events including the world's largest skill competition.
