Help Todd vie for a medal under the carpentry skill category at the WorldSkills International Competition in Abu Dhabi.
Manawatu / Whanganui
Hey guys! My name is Todd Hamilton. I'm 22 years old and I currently live in Palmerston North.
A little bit about myself is that I always enjoyed learning hands on, which slotted into carpentry perfectly as I started to learn and enjoy it more and more throughout my years at Taradale Highschool in Hawkes Bay.
I moved onto a carpentry coarse at EIT, which had great learning facilities. I only managed to finish a few months of this, as I was then accepted by the New Zealand Army as a carpenter, and this was where I completed the rest of my apprenticeship through Bcito.
I didn't have a clue WorldSkills existed, until my boss asked me if I'd like to compete. I said, "Sure, why not."
Well, I had no idea just how big this was and how great of an opportunity it has been for me. The national competition was held in Hamilton. I was unsure of what to expect, as competitive carpentry was all new to me. It was a steep learning curve and a great competition against some great builders, and I was fortunate enough to take home the win.
That has left me here on this Give a Little page to kindly ask for some donations to go towards funding my trip to compete in the WorldSkills International Competition in Abu Dhabi in October 2017.
It will be a very challenging experience, but I am wanting to hit it head on, with all your support.
I am proud to be able to represent my country as part of the Tool Blacks team in a way I never though was possible through WorldSkills NZ!
Thank you kindly for checking out my Give a Little page! :)
