Support Tim and Jeff in their quest to bring home the Teams Challenge Trophy and help out Cure Kids!!!
Canterbury
The Whitehorse Challenge pits a team against an endurance run and bike, alongside some fundraising. This year the Vet Centre are putting in a couple of teams, one from Oamaru, and one from Waimate (so expect a great battle within a battle).
Coming in as leading contenders are the Oamaru team. Taking on the bike leg is Tim Rush (yes that Tim Rush!) who is the defending champion in the 27km distance. He's looking forward to battling for the prestigious Teams Trophy this year. If he needs any more motivation, with a son on the way in the next few weeks, it'll be his first race as a Dad! Team Waimo are meanwhile hoping for a bit of baby fatigue to help them out.......
For the 18km run, Jeff returns for the first time after blitzing the field in year 2. He claims that the three years have slowed him down, but we suspect it's a ruse. Fuelled mainly on a snacking diet of jet planes and scavenged lollies we suspect that he'll be hitting up Rainbow Confectionary for some sponsorship after all these years of keeping them afloat.
They are throwing their 25% support behind the great cause of Cure Kids.
So get donating - every $1 raised over $250 gives a 1 second time advantage to the team, as well as a hand up for our great causes!
The Waimate Rotary Club runs the Whitehorse Challenge, with teams raising funds for local and regional charities, while testing their athletic skills!
This year 75% of funds raised will go towards Sports Waimate, Centrecare Counselling, Waimate School of Music, Waimate Rotary Club, and the Whitehorse MTB Club. 25% of the funds will go to Cure Kids.
