A Hospital Room for Small Animals

$605 of $5,000 goal
Given by 14 generous donors in around 4 months

Can you help us build a hospital room for for small animals? We are fundraising to build a 4 x 6 metre clean dry space for animal care.

Wellington

We have a number of animals that arrive at the Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary in need of special care. $5,000 will buy us a 4 x 6 metre kitset building that we can turn into clean and dry hospital room for small animals, enabling us to give these animals the care they need. The facilities will include a washing machine and dishwasher so that we have a dedicated space for cleaning animal bedding and sterilising animal feeding utensils.

Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary's involvement (page creator)

The Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary is a safe and sustainable space to rehabilitate and re-home abused, injured, and neglected non-human animals. We are a relatively new sanctuary on 26 acres of land at Otaki Forks, an hour's drive north of Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. The Sanctuary operates according to animal rights principles and promotes animal liberation. Our primary aim is to offer a safe haven to abused and neglected animals, and especially former farm animals.

About us

The Black Sheep rehabilitates and re-homes abused, injured and neglected non-human animals. We support animal rights and animal protection, and our main aim is to provide a safe haven for animals, as well as outreach and education in our community. Right now four full-time caretakers, with support from dedicated part-time volunteers and WWOOFers care for over two hundred animals (pigs, goats, sheep, roosters, geese, cows, horses, dogs, cats, ducks, hedgehogs, geese, rabbits and many others) at Ōtaki Forks, an hour's drive north of Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington. Although our fundraising shops cover the sanctuary mortgage, we depend on community support for all animal care costs.

Our particular focus is to take in neglected, mistreated, and abandoned farm animals. We offer a refuge where they can live out their natural lives in peace and security, in the company of others of their kind. Where possible we rehome to loving forever homes, but there are many animals with special needs who are permanently with us. We're run by the Animal Protection Society, a registered charity, and we're hoping for your help to enable us to continue our animal rescue work. Thunder, Chester, Sirius, Iris, Struan, Sparkles, Betty Boo and many others will be so happy because of your contribution!
