Luna has a broken jaw and needs to wear a muzzle and cone, and has to be fed through a feeding tube for 3 weeks.
Auckland
Luna has had a really unfair run recently, but with your help we can turn things around and get her happy and healthy and ready for her future forever family.
She is a beautiful four month old tabby who had a broken jaw. Her reconstructive surgery has been successful, but there are still several weeks of intensive recovery ahead before she's given the green light to go back to being a playful smoochy kitten.
Her jaw has been wired shut, with a feeding tube in place, to give her the best chance of healing and living a pain-free life. This means she's confined to a muzzle and cone for at least the next three weeks. Her foster family are working really hard to get her healthy - but there's a few bills still to come that we need your help with.
Special food: The food we need to tube feed Luna is expensive, and a 21 day supply is several hundred dollars. We don't want to cut corners with nutrition - lots of our kittens arrive malnourished and it's an important part of Luna's recovery to be well fed.
X-rays: Monitoring progress as the bones heal requires frequent x-rays.
Medication: Luna requires pain relief as she heals, and antibiotics to help her fight off any post-op infections.
Vet visits: We're lucky to work with a network of vets who don't believe in hopeless cases. They offer us outstanding service, often at a reduced rate. But, they still need to be paid for their expertise and skill, and Luna will have a lot of checkups in the coming weeks.
We've estimated we'll need about $2000 to get Luna through the next month. You can follow her recovery here and over on our Facebook page.
Lovely Luna and the team at Lonely Miaow thank you so much for your support!

Update on Luna #1 7 April 2017
Luna had a vet visit this morning to check her tube site as it was starting to show signs of infection. Luckily she is responding well to her antibiotics and it's looking good to stay in for a bit longer.
On Monday she will be going back to the vets and will have X-rays to see how her jaw is healing. After the vet appointment we will post another update!
She is really wanting to get out and play with her sister boo!! Our volunteer who is fostering Luna has said that she looks at her pleadingly to let her our and play.
Once Luna is recovered, she will be looking for a forever home, hopefully with her beautiful sister Boo!
