We're going to come up short this kitten season – can you help us keep rescuing stray and abandoned cats and kittens?
Auckland
We're in a bit of a pickle! This kitten season has been rough... we've had a run of really sick kittens, the humidity has done diabolical things to the amount of ringworm we're dealing with, we've rescued over 750 cats and kittens so far... and our cupboard is looking very bare!
We've got two options: either raise funds to get us through the next few weeks, or stop taking on more cats and kittens. All our foster homes are under huge pressure, but the idea that we would have to turn away any vulnerable cats or kittens is pretty gross. As it is we're having to triage space to make sure the most at-risk come into care fastest.
We're asking you to spare a few bucks to keep us going. Our biggest cost at the moment is our vet bills – our February bills were $22,717.85. Our number cruncher has done some sums, and to get thru to Easter weekend with the way things are going, we're going to come up around $10,000 short. We're doing all the deals we can to sort wholesale prices on flea and worm treatments, our food suppliers are being magnificent... but we can't wrangle lower vet costs – sick kittens and cats need veterinary care, and there can be no scrimping and saving on that!
Rescuing stray and abandoned cats and kittens around the greater Auckland area, caring for them in foster homes, and finding their forever homes.
The money raised will be allocated to the cost of vet treatment for the 277 cats and kittens we currently have in foster homes, and all those who come into care between now and the end of season.
