Givealittle charge a 5% (including GST) service fee based on the amount raised, which is deducted when funds are paid out.
Beginning February 24th, 2025 , donors also pay a 1.5% fee on top of their donation if they donate using a credit/debit card, and we’ve kept this fee as low as possible. So for a $20 donation, a donor using their credit or debit card would be charged $20 +0.30c = $20.30. There is no fee to the donor when donating via other payment methods.
Our fees help us cover Givealittle's running costs such as transaction fees and website hosting costs as well as customer service, website development, new features or tools, security and compliance. These fees also allow us to balance our primary goal of facilitating generosity while ensuring Givealittle is sustainable as a registered charity.
Donors still have the option to lower the 5% service fee for fundraisers by adding a voluntary “Top-up” donation which gets deducted from the fee owed - so the fee deducted at the time of payment is often lower than 5%. (Givealittle does not take any fee from the "Top-up" donation).
Payees are sent a breakdown of their payment automatically from Givealittle, which details the fee charged but if you have any questions about what you see, please get in touch .
Q: How much is the Givealittle fee?
A: Payees are charged our standard service fee of 5%, and donors who donate by credit/debit card pay an additional 1.5% fee on top of their donation amount to help cover card processing fees.
Q: Can donors reduce the 5% fee with a Top Up?
A: Yes, donors can add an optional “top up” to their donation, which reduces the 5% fee even further.
Q: There’s a live donation feed on my page, will the donation amounts displayed include the 1.5% fee?
A: No, the amount donated displays without the 1.5% contribution amount. For example, if a donor gives $20 using a credit/debit card, the amount displayed on your live donation feed is $20, and the donor is charged $20.30.
Q: Can donors claim GST on the 1.5% card fee?
A: Yes, while a donation does not qualify for GST, the card fee does. So you can claim it if you are GST registered. The card fee amount is itemised on the receipt email.
